Weekend brunch on the Upper West Side usually means a queue and a hurried table. Rosa Mexicano at the Empire Hotel offers something different: a full Mexican brunch served in a dining room built for lingering, at 44 W. 63rd Street — directly across from Lincoln Center.
We are the dining partner of The Empire Hotel, on a corner that fills every weekend with matinee audiences, museum visitors, and neighborhood regulars. Brunch here is built around the same kitchen that has defined our Lincoln Center location since it opened: guacamole made to order at the table, masa worked by hand, and a bar that takes a Bloody Maria as seriously as a margarita.

Mexican brunch isn’t an American brunch with salsa added. It is its own tradition, built for a slow late morning: eggs and chiles, masa in several forms, and something sweet at the end that is worth the walk over.
Expect the dishes the cuisine is known for at this hour — chilaquiles simmered until the tortilla softens but does not surrender, huevos rancheros, and our guacamole prepared tableside in the molcajete, which is as good at noon as it is at night. When Brunch Is Served, and What Is On It
Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday, and the kitchen opens at 7:00 AM every day of the week — we are one of the very few upscale rooms near Lincoln Center serving breakfast daily, which is why hotel guests and Upper West Side regulars end up at the same tables.
The weekend menu is the festive one: Churro Waffles, Mexican Benedicts, chilaquiles, and a bar list built for the hour, from the frozen pomegranate margarita to a properly made Bloody Maria. Guacamole is still made to order in the molcajete at your table.
Saturday service runs from 7:00 AM to midnight, and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so a late brunch and an early dinner are both on the table.

Brunch Built Around the Neighborhood
Almost nobody on this block is only having brunch. There is a 1:00 matinee at the Met Opera, a morning at the American Museum of Natural History, or a walk through Central Park that ends hungry. Brunch here is timed for that — tell us when you need to be somewhere, and the kitchen will work to it.
